Debut album recordings

This fall, I will hit the studio with my quartet to record all my compositions that I have collected over the past few years (at least, the ones I’m happy with 😉 ) Would you like to see us play live? You can attend one of our shows, listed on my schedule page. Hope to see you there!

Trio concert @ HW10’s event “Nieuw Nest”

This Friday, May 13th, Broedplaats HW10 is organizing one of their “Nieuw Nest” events, during which many entrepreneurs from all different sorts of cultural / creative fields will gather and expose their works of art. I’m very happy to contribute by playing some jazz with a trio consisting of Durk Hijma on guitar and Ties Laarakker on double bass, starting at 8pm. Please check out their Facebook event for more details!

New recordings

foto quartet 5Last month, I recorded two tunes with my quartet consisting of some great Dutch musicians. These songs are part of my entry to the Dutch Jazz Competition 2014, so fingers crossed while hoping for a semi-final selection! Keep you posted… Meanwhile, please check out those original compositions at my audio page!

Upcoming gigs in September

Amsterdam people! In the next couple weeks, I will play with some different trios at various venues in the Amsterdam area. On thursday the 5th, I play at the great restaurant Pompstation (I recommend the steak! Yum…) with Jasper van Damme on sax and Thomas Rolff on the double bass. Then on Sunday the 8th, I play next to the Sloterplas in Amsterdam with Jasper and Tobias Nijboer as part of a food festival called Smaakboulevard. I’m also happy to know that Proeflokaal In Den Uiver liked our previous concerts at their bar in Haarlem as we were asked to come back and play at the 15th of this month. Looking forward to all of these musical encounters!

Did I just build my own snare drum?!

Earlier this year, I came up with the idea of building my very own snare drum out of wood staves cut from an old door post. I’m very pleased to say that it turned out to be a great success! If you’re curious about whether it sounds good, please check my schedule and see if you can make it to one of my gigs! I promise I’ll have it with me!

Trio at “In Den Uiver”

uiverOn Sunday, April 21, I’ll be playing at Proeflokaal In Den Uiver with a great trio featuring Tony Hoyting on piano and Ties Laarakker on double bass! Last month’s gig at this venue was a great success, so please stop by if you support live jazz music and like quality beers (or either one of those…)!

Drumlessen Amsterdam

Stageband meets Rob Spelberg

From the 23rd till the 25th of August, I’ll be playing some really nice music with the Stageband! The program is one of great variety as we will play some of composer/trombonist Rob Spelberg‘s original compositions as well as some other great big band tunes. Also, Rob has arranged a few of Tom Waits’s songs for this occasion, so please come out and listen for yourself! Exact times and locations can be found on my schedule page.

Check out an interview (Dutch) with Rob Spelberg about these three concerts:
